Here's How it Works

Step One: Browse & Choose Your Share

Start here. Review the share options below — Quarter, Half, or Whole Cow.

Each one includes processing. There are no hidden fees, no processor add-ons, and no separate facility to arrange. Once you know which size is right for your family, you're ready for Step 2.

Step Two: Place Your Deposit Online

A $500 deposit secures your spot in the harvest- the same amount regardless of which share size you choose. The balance (with your deposit applied) is calculated per pound of hanging weight and collected when you pick up your beef.

Spots fill before harvest, so the sooner you're in, the better your position on the schedule.

Step Three: Confirmation Call with Corey

After your deposit clears, Corey will call you personally. He'll confirm your order, walk you through what to expect at pickup, give you an estimated pickup date, and answer any questions you have. He'll even invite you out to see the farm if you'd like.

That call is part of the deal — it's how Corey does business.

Step Four: Pick Up at the Farm

4–6 months after your deposit, your beef is ready. During that time, you’ll work with our processor to determine the cuts you want. Come to Bright Meadows in Gainesville, Georgia, and pick it up directly from Corey. (Delivery in a limited area is available.)

Your beef will be cut, packaged, labeled, andready for the freezer. No processor visits. No third-party handoffs. You know exactly where it came from and who raised it.

FAQs

What Does It Cost?

Bright Meadows beef is priced per pound of hanging weight — the weight of the cow after processing, before it's cut and packaged.

This is the standard for direct-farm beef purchases, and it's how you end up with a known price per pound and a full freezer.

What is Hanging Weight?

Hanging weight is the weight of the beef after the animal is processed but before it's cut into steaks, roasts, ground beef, and everything else. It's heavier than the take-home weight because it still includes bone, trim, and any fat your butcher removes during cutting.

A general rule of thumb: expect to take home roughly 60–65% of the hanging weight as finished beef. So a half cow at 300 lbs hanging weight yields approximately 180–195 lbs of packaged beef — steaks, roasts, brisket, ground beef, and more.

How Much Freezer Space Do You Need?

A good rule of thumb: plan for about one cubic foot of freezer space per 35–40 lbs of finished beef.
Here's how that breaks down by share size:

  • Quarter Cow (~100 lbs)
Approximately 4–5 cubic feet. A small chest freezer or a spacious side-by-side.

  • Half Cow (~200 lbs)
Approximately 7–8 cubic feet. A standard chest freezer.

  • Whole Cow (~400 lbs)
Approximately 14–16 cubic feet. A large chest freezer, or two standard ones

Not Ready for a Full Freezer? Split it.

Some of our best customers came in as a pair — two families splitting a whole cow, each walking away with a half at a lower per-pound cost than if they'd bought separately. It's one of the best deals in the model, and it's completely straightforward to set up.

You handle the recruiting, Corey handles the rest: one deposit per family, one pickup per family, no logistics headache.

If you've got a neighbor, a friend, or a family member who's been curious about this, too, reach out to Corey. He'll help make it work.

Beef is only as good as the land and the farmer behind it.

Before he was a farmer, Corey played offensive line for the Oakland Raiders and the Buffalo Bills. It's the position that does the unglamorous work that makes everyone else look good. He brought that same instinct home.

Even the pastures are cared for with intention. Our fields are never sprayed with Roundup, so Bright Meadows Wagyu are raised on clean land from the start. Wagyu are naturally docile animals, and Corey keeps them that way: room to move, proper water, proper feed, never crowded into a commercial dirt floor. For the last four months, they're finished on grain and alfalfa from a local North Georgia mill, which is what builds the marbling from the inside out.
